Malvern Flea & Collectors Fair
The Three Counties Showground is host to the phenomenon that is the Malvern Flea & Collectors Fair.
The largest flea fair in the UK, it is a must-visit event – definitely one for your bucket list! Held nine times a year in the Wye Hall, Avon Hall and outside, the flea brings together hundreds of exhibitors, all selling their pre-loved wares. From traditional antiques and vintage, to salvage, retro, steampunk and more, the flea has it all!
It has been a firm fixture at the showground for decades, with current organisers, B2B Events taking over the fair in 2009 – and its popularity goes from strength to strength. It is now one of the most favoured events of the antiques calendar.
The upcoming Easter Monday (22nd April) outing of the event, is historically one of the largest of the year. If the weather is kind, visitors can expect even more exhibitors, as the outside areas, as well as the indoor, fill up even further with people offering products for sale. From garden goods to textiles, kitchenware to clothing, furniture to upcycled items, the flea will have it all.
“You never know what you might find at the Malvern Flea”, said Helen Yourston, Director at B2B Events. “ A circus roundabout, a propeller of world war II plane, vintage motorbikes…they’ve all been here for sale! That is the beauty of the flea – the anticipation at each event of just what you might find this time!”
Should the weather be on our side at the Easter Monday event there will be the added attraction of Vintage Class, a singing group who entertain visitors with songs from the 40s and 50s.
The showground has played host to two flea’s already this year – both of which have been well received with exhibitors and visitors alike: “We were lucky to have a relatively dry event in January –which isn’t always the case!” continued Helen, “The weather is a deciding factor with outside pitches, January we had close on 200 but with the rain in February this was reduced to less than 100. Nevertheless, with two fully booked halls, in addition to the stalls outside, we’ve experienced good numbers of visitors through the gate so far this year!”
The event is often featured on the popular television programmes, Bargain Hunt and Salvage Hunters, with the production teams visiting at least once a year to film their programmes. Helen explained the events appeal: “It’s a popular event for television programmes as it’s so accessible to visitors and viewers are able to relate to it. You don’t have to be antiques expert to attend the flea – a love of the pre-loved is all you need and you’ll be hooked!”
